The large image has a resolution of 500 meters per pixel. 'Rita' was the second major hurricane to strike the Louisiana coast this season ('Katrina' was the first) and the third most intense hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Basin. The fires are probably agricultural fires. Hurricane Rita made landfall in southwestern Louisiana between Sabine Pass, Texas and Johnson's Bayou, Louisiana early Saturday morning, September 24, 2005. MODIS detected several fires, marked with red dots, burning in the southeastern United States. ![]() ![]() In this photo-like image, the Gulf Coast of the United States frames the open water to the north, while the Yucatan Peninsula is visible to the south. Rita is expected to weaken slightly before coming ashore over the Texas or Louisiana coastline on September 23 or 24 as a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher). The first was Hurricane Katrina, which devastated much of the Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama shoreline when it came ashore on August 29. Rita is the second Category 5 storm of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. Within a few hours, the storm intensified to a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 265 kph (165 mph). At the time this image was acquired, Rita had winds of 220 kilometers per hour (140 miles per hour) with gusts to 270 kph (170 mph). The storm bears the markings of a powerful hurricane: it is compact and circular, with an open eye through which the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico are visible. Rita was building into an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer ( MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this image at 12:10 p.m., U.S. ![]() The future of data storage may be the yottabyte. If you counted 1 bps, it would take 35.7 million years. ![]() ![]() A bit is a binary digit, either a 0 or 1 a byte is eight binary digits long. If you counted all the bits in 1 PB of storage at a rate of 1 bps, it would take 285 million years, according to data analysts from Deloitte Analytics. According to Wes Biggs, CTO at Adfonic, 1 PB can store the DNA of the entire population of the United States and then clone them twice. That is almost long enough to wrap around the equator twice. If the average smartphone camera photo is 3 MB, and the average printed photo is 8.5-inches wide, a petabyte of photos placed side by side would be more than 48,000 miles long. If the average MP3 encoding is approximately 1 MB per second ( MBps), and the average song lasts about four minutes, then a petabyte of songs could play continuously for more than 2,000 years. This means that the memories of 800 human beings fit into 1 PB of storage. In his book, The Singularity is Near, futurist Raymond Kurzweil estimated the capacity of a human being's functional memory to be 1.25 TB. A zettabyte is equal to about 1,000 EB, or 1 billion TB. There are 1,024 TB in a PB, and about 1,024 PB equal 1 exabyte ( EB). A petabyte ( PB) is equal to two to the 50 th power of bytes. The discrepancy between base-10 and base-2 measurements became more distinct as vendors began to manufacture data storage media with more capacity.Ī terabyte ( TB) is equal to approximately 1 trillion bytes, or 1,024 GB. Computers typically use the base-2, or binary, form of measurement. This is the standard most data storage manufacturers and consumers use today. Base-10 uses the decimal system to show that 1 GB equals one to the 10 th power of bytes, or 1 billion bytes. There are two standards for measuring the number of bytes in a gigabyte: base-10 and base-2. A megabyte is 1 million bytes of data storage capacity, according to the IBM Dictionary of Computing.Ī gigabyte ( GB) is equivalent to about 1 billion bytes. When the prefixes are added to the term byte, it creates units of measurement ranging from 1,000 bytes (kilobyte) to 1 sextillion bytes ( zettabyte) of data storage capacity. Z etta (1 sextillion) was added to the SI metric prefixes in 1991. However, the origin and history of peta with data measurement terms is unclear. The prefixes exa (1 quintillion) and peta (1 quadrillion) were added to the International System of Units (SI) in 1975. Tera (1 trillion) comes from the Greek word teras or teratos, meaning "marvel, monster," and has been in use since approximately 1947. Giga comes from the Greek word for giant, and the first use of the term is believed to have taken place at the 1947 conference of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. Though mega is used these days to mean "extremely good, great or successful," its scientific meaning is 1 million. The prefix kilo (1,000) first came into existence between 18. History and origin of kilo, mega and more The lowercase k is the technically correct symbol for kilo when it represents 10 3, although the uppercase K is often used. For example, 1 kilobit per second (kbps) is equal to 10 3, or 1,000 bits per second ( bps) 1 megabit per second ( Mbps) is equal to 10 6, or 1,000,000 bps. Power-of-10 multipliers are also used to define binary data speeds. In IT and data storage, multipliers are defined in powers of two, from 2 10 to 2 80, proceeding in increments of 10 orders of magnitude - 2 10 or 1,024.Įxamples of quantities or phenomena in which power-of-10 prefix multipliers apply include frequency - including computer clock speeds - physical mass, power, energy, electrical voltage and electrical current. In communications, electronics and physics, multipliers are defined in powers of 10, from 10 -24 to 10 24, proceeding in increments of three orders of magnitude - 10 3 or 1,000. Each multiplier consists of a one-letter abbreviation and the prefix it stands for. Sometimes called prefix multipliers, these prefixes are also used in electronics and physics. Kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa, zetta are among the list of binary prefixes used to denote the quantity of something, such as a byte or bit in computing and telecommunications. ![]() If you currently have SOLIDWORKS installed and wish to add on the PDM component, click the link here. What Are The Benefits Of Using Google Trends? Overall, it is reasonable to compare search phrases only within the same time period and geography. This relative popularity is calculated by dividing each data point by the total number of searches for the location and time period it represents.Īdditionally, with regard to abstract search volume, various locations with the same level of search interest in a phrase do not always have the same overall search volume. A value of 0 means that there was insufficient data for this phrase in this location. The numbers are computed on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the place with the most popularity as a percentage of all searches in that location and 50 indicating a location that would be about half as popular. Google Trends adjusts search data to facilitate term comparisons easier. This time and energy are significantly reduced when using an API. Manually investigating and extracting data from Google Trends is a time-consuming and labor-intensive operation. There isn’t any issue with simply utilizing the web interface but, when working on a big-scale project that involves the creation of a huge dataset, this may become quite time-consuming. ![]() is this a hub and spoke connection or is this a line or a ring or some hybrid. You mentioned they are connected by wireless bridges. ![]() What switches and routers do you have at each site? If I did this I guess it would be easy to put the whole camera system on a separate VLAN eh? I would like to eventually get my own server for just the cameras and one for just the Voip server. I would love to separate my VOIP from the rest of the LAN but I don't think I can put that on a separate VLAN since it's PC softphone based so I would have to chose those random PC's to separate? ![]() For the past 5 years this setup has been working great tho. I trust everything on the LAN side so don't see why it would be a big issue to have this basically like one big LAN? It's not a public intranet. We have our houses all linked with the business locations, so we can easily share the network via the intranet instead of using VPN or any web route to jump locations as our internet here is terrible slow. This way the cameras could be on 192.168.1.x, still able to communicate with that server, and save me room on 192.168.0.x ? And hopefully not interfere with the VOIP server thats on the same PC.
